More Holiday Weekend Fun

We stayed at my parents' house through Monday.  That gave us plenty of time for fun!

On Friday, we went to the children’s museum, which the kids loved!  We walked through a pretty park on the way there.

A little shopping…

and a little farming…

They got to play in some cloud dough, which Russell especially loved.  I’ve seen the recipe on Pinterest, so it looks like I’ll be making that sometime.

I guess the kids thought this was an action shot!

Russell liked fishing for magnetic fish.  Meredith enjoyed splashing in the water.

Afterward, we had lunch at the famous Varsity restaurant!

The rest of the weekend was pretty low-key and included a cold trip to the park:

A coffee date with my cousin:

and lots of hang-out time.

We had a great time and can’t wait to come back Smile

Turkey Day 2012

We drove down to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving morning.  Best idea ever.  The last time we drove down on Wednesday was when I was pregnant with Russell, and what should have taken 4.5 hours took over 7.  So we skipped that traffic this time and got there in 5 hours – perfect!  While Meredith took her nap, Russell played and “helped” Mimi make a sweet potato casserole (aka ate the marshmallows.)

Then we headed over to my aunt’s house for a Thanksgiving just like I remember from growing up Smile While the adults grazed on appetizers, the kids played with old  toys my aunt had gotten out of her attic and cleaned for them.

There were several cars and trucks that Russell loved.  This is the only photo I got of the kids together and in their nice outfits – clearly I wasn’t thinking straight!

Our table – minus Meredith (who wasn’t hungry and spent dinner bringing us things from the living room).  Russell is sitting in the front chair even though you can’t see him.

The other table:

After dinner, I changed the kids into their PJs and everyone sat around talking and watching football.  We ended up staying until almost 9, so the kids didn’t get to bed until almost 10 – we never keep the kids up that late but they did just fine.  In fact, they got their second wind about 10 minutes before we left and were running and giggling all over the place!

In fact, the kids also slept in the same room together last night for the first time ever and did great with that too – we didn’t hear a peep out of them!  What a perfect end to a great Thanksgiving.  We truly have much to be grateful for.

Beautiful Day

The weather is just unseasonably warm and gorgeous this weekend, so while we visited with family (Jon, Pops, Mimi, Paw Paw, and Kacki) yesterday morning before the shower, we went to a beautiful park.

The kids love this carousel.  Meredith decided to ride on the cat (her favorite animal) while Russell picked a horse.

Despite the look, she was very happy on this boat!

We left Paw Paw and Kacki’s house this morning in time to get to the 11:00 service at our church.  The kids looked so adorable this morning!  Kacki made Meredith’s beautiful dress.

Wedding Bells

Both of my brothers are getting married within the next year!  So fun!  We visited with some family and friends this weekend as we celebrated at Jon and Meghan’s wedding shower.  It was at a nice, trendy little restaurant.  Jason’s cousin Kate kept the kids for us since it fell during their nap time, so we just relaxed and enjoyed the shower and family time!
Bride and groom and grandmother:
Jason and I gave them this doormat and our favorite marriage book, Love and Respect.
I also had the privilege of taking their engagement photos last weekend.  One of my favorites:
We love you guys so much and can't wait for your wedding!

Football Fans

We went to Paw Paw and Kacki’s house for a bit this weekend.  Jason and Russell got to go to the football game with family and friends, while Meredith and I stayed home so she could have her nap.

After they came back from the game, I snapped a couple photos of my favorite football fans.
