Our oldest has had 3 sets (had to be redone when they fall out and the 3rd set they do are "permanent" until older childhood). My daughter has had one set. They work fabulously eliminate the need for antibiotics and pain meds which have side effects of their own. <br /><br />We see Dr. Kraus at the Ear Center and he is an amazing doctor and incredible man. The decision is usually made based on fluid more often than infection numbers. Having fluid is like living life with your fingers stuck in your ears. The longer it goes on, the greater the deficit. May want to at least get a consult and let them test his fluid levels and hearing (very easy to do).
